Frank James (of CORN, BEANS, SPENT BRASS, AN EMPTY PAGE AND A DEADLINE) has, though we have never met, just taken me to task for muddled and somewhat juvenile thinking.
I’ve been loving it pretty much all winter, up till now at least. Because this winter has been much warmer and dryer then last winter or even then the average winter. Frankly I’m not a skier, so the ability of many of my family, friends and neighbors to go ski is of little consequence to me. Yes I’m a little bummed that Karl did not get to work as much this winter at the ski resort as he would have had this been a above average or even average winter for snow.
No I’m not so much concerned about the future “Fire Danger” because of the drought. Why not? Because EVERY year it is the same.
This
“CDF has said that the fire danger will be high this year because the lack of rain fall this winter is leading to drought conditions”
or this
“CDF has said that the fire danger will be high this year because the high rain totals have caused the grass and brush to grow which increases the fire danger”.
CDF is never happy, so I quit caring about what they thought. I don’t smoke, not even in the woods and I always make sure my camp fires are dead and out before leaving camp.
Honestly I was not worried.
Now I am.
The last time we had a ‘warm’ month of March like this was back in 1983 and the summer following that was nothing less than A SON OF A BITCH!!! I think it rained on July 4th and didn’t rain again until September 16 or so. And in that same time period the last of July and most of August routinely saw high temperatures on a daily basis of over 100 degrees F throughout our area!
Read the rest and pray for rain.
