Letter to Springfield Armory.

Below is the full text of the letter that I enclosed in the box that is taking my Springfield Armory GI back to Springfield Armory for the third time.

Enclosed with this letter you will find my SA GI model 1911 back for its third trip to the factory.

This thing is a “Jam-O-matic”, in fact it jams more then a kitchen full of Amish ladies in harvest season.

It Jams with every mag that I have.  Including my SA Mag.  I have also enclosed some Brass that this gun has mangled.

Further I have inclosed printouts from my Blog detailing my troubles with this gun.

I like, or rather would like to like, the gun.  It feels good in my hand, when it bothers to shoot it seems accurate.  It is just not reliable.

If it can not be fixed it is going down the road to the nearest gun store, to let some other poor soul try his luck with it.

Good luck.

Please feel free to call me.  Home xxx-xxx-xxxx or email notme@nothere.org if you have any questions.

Ted

I do hope they can fix it.  My definition of “Fix it” in this case is going to be 500 rounds without a jam.  I’ll clean it and lube it every 100-200 rounds but it had better go 500 rounds or more and not even hint at jamming.

About Ted

A husband and a father, those are the important things. A dog owner and a man who does not get to hunt and fish as often as he might like but hopes that that will change.

    No “jams” – EVER.
No matter what the round count is .
Cold , Frozen, Wet,Hot, Dusty, The dam thing should work 100% anything less is UNACCEPTABLE.
If they cant send it back to you that way they should QUITE selling firearms , they are going to get someone killed.
Maybe dumping them in the SAND BOX with it for a couple tours will get there attention.
If the Eugene Oregon gunsmith that sponsored/worked on my IPSC 1911 could make it 100% reliable the Gunsmiths at Springfield sure as HELL better be able to.
